Oils and Watercolors
I am still working out what my paintings are about. I like the run of smooth paint on a slick surface. I love the detail of brushwork, presenting the microcosm on macro scale. I love the feeling of fluidity and movement. In the same notion of energy I am drawn to saturated and lusty colors. Big, bold, complimentary contrast. To feel flat and deep all at once.
Maybe this is why I feel as much at home painting images of cartoons as I do a picture of my grandmothers’ burial.
Painting presents a challenge; how to distill the complexities of life into a discernible image.
